Upon landing, PM Modi was greeted with a patriotic cultural performance themed on ‘Operation Sindoor’, a recent military operation launched by the Indian Armed Forces to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The tribute was performed to the stirring song “Saugandh Mujhe Iss Mitti Ki”, leaving the Prime Minister visibly moved.
The BRICS Summit, scheduled for July 6–7, will see PM Modi engage in high-level discussions on global issues such as:
- International peace and security
- Responsible use of artificial intelligence
- Climate action
- Global health
- Economic and financial cooperation
Modi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders, including Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to strengthen strategic partnerships in trade, defence, space, and technology.
This visit follows Modi’s impactful engagements in Argentina, where he met President Javier Milei, and in Trinidad and Tobago, where he was honored with the country’s highest civilian award. His journey underscores India’s growing global influence and Modi’s continued emphasis on diaspora diplomacy.
The Indian community in Brazil expressed immense pride and excitement over the Prime Minister’s visit. “It’s a privilege to welcome him,” said Vijay Solanki, a long-time resident of Rio originally from Gujarat.
